A History of PWSM Network
My attraction to the priesthood was a firm resolve not only to be a priest and pastor of souls, but to also be a “warrior priest”. I saw the Catholic priesthood as a vocation to fight evil and to help save people from the influence of the Evil One. I fully realized that this was not the norm for vocations to the priesthood of my day, but I could not stray from my resolve. Little did I know where that resolve would later take me in my priesthood! It was not until my connection with a local paranormal group (NEAR), who asked for my spiritual assistance that I got my first taste of working in this field. At the same time, I had become good friends with Ryan Buell who invited me to be of spiritual assistance on the darker cases for the A&E’s hit series, Paranormal State. Working with Ryan Buell and PRS gave me the exposure and credibility (as well as experience) wherein I began to receive local calls for help from both investigating groups as well as from individuals. With the approval of my Bishop, I began to reach out and assist them. With the demands and commitments of my pastoral duties, I am no longer able to travel to respond to the many requests that come in each week. After a period of discernment and reflection, the Holy Spirit led me to refocus the PWSM ministry to become what it was destined to become all the time – a NETWORK that would spread to other parts of the country. My role and that of my assistant, Rob Jacobs and case manager, Terry Jacobs has now focused mainly on education and formation of both lay persons and clergy in the reality of evil and the spiritual battle. Creating a network with Clergy as Warriors willing to battle the demonic forces of evil is something that is sorely needed in the Christian Church today and so welcomed by those working in the paranormal field. Those who are part of the Network are trained in spiritual battle in the Christian tradition. My ministry operates with the permission and blessing of our Most Reverend Bishop and under auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Providence of which I am a Diocesan Priest. - Father Bob Bailey, Founder
The Ecumenical Aspect of PWSM
Through dialogue and friendship, we have shared our faith journeys and have realized that we have much more in common than we had imagined. PWSM is not afraid to reach out and network with non-Christian religious traditions because we are firmly rooted in our own Christian Faith. How PWSM - THE NETWORK - OperatesThe praesidium was a unit in the Roman Army and seems a much better description of our ministry since we are Warriors under the patronage of St. Michael. When we first began, we had used the paranormal group model of investigating followed by the spiritual battle. However, the years have taught us that we need to move away from the paranormal group model and operate through a different model since there is different way of approaching demonic spirits as opposed to human ones. We assist groups as well as individual persons but our method as spiritual warriors has its own unique set of rules, preparation and engagement. This is the reason that the “P” in PWSM has changed from “Paranormal” to “Praesidium”. Through the Website, Group referrals as well as contacts from persons in various parts of the country are sent to The PWSM home base in Rhode Island. When the referral comes through this website’s email, the case manager takes and attempts to respond to the request. A questionnaire is emailed out for the client to fill out, describing in detail what their issue is. Fr. Bob does not take individual phone calls because his pastoral duties keep him quite busy and many inquiries come to the ministry each week. The questionnaire affords him the opportunity to reflect and pray about the information given. Depending upon the area in the country, we check to see if we have a Network member in their area. Unfortunately, there are not Network members in every state at this time and we regret that. Yet that is the reality. Sometimes Fr. Bob will respond to cases if they are local enough. Each participating Network member is also trained to conduct “Prayers of Liberation Over Home” or to pray with those who feel that they are being affected by an evil influence. We also have Prayer Warriors who are committed to praying for the ministry, our network members and those who seek their help. These are called St. Michael’s Shield Prayer Warriors”. We will also be having a group of persons who will especially pray the holy Rosary for those who feel they are afflicted by dark forces called “Our Lady’s Mantle” prayer warriors. Referrals are taken on a first come - first served basis. We ask for patience as we have a volume of requests to go through. In some instances, the Ministry can give the clients material and prayers or offer Holy Mass to help the situation. Fr. Bob also has a monthly Liturgy of Healing and Liberation on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm (September to June) at St. Maria Goretti Church, 165 Power Rd. Pawtucket, Rhode Island, which is centered upon the power of Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist. (PLEASE NOTE: FR. Since I was a young child, I have always had a desire to be a priest. I credit my maternal Italian grandparents with exposing me to devotion to the Saints. It was in reading their lives that I began to discover the reality of spiritual warfare and the struggle with many of them against personified evil called the demonic.
